With initial roots in Hamburg (1986) registration was subsequently transferred to Cyprus where the Schoeller Group predominantly resides, before the move to Singapore in January 2009.

Deriving its name from the early trading area of the Bay of Bengal where BTL first established its origins as a Common Feeder, today’s geographical spread covers from the Far East to the Arabian Gulf but the core sectors remain within India.

Carrying 800,000 teus in 2008 with approximately 22 vessels under operation (including VSA partners) the Shippers Own Containers (SOC) philosophy remains, thus retaining complete neutrality in the business.
